Title: Generosity of Spirit |
Caption: I really don’t like the version where Santa comes through a chimney to leave toys for all the good boys and girls. I’ve always thought children should know exactly where and who is responsible for the toys under the tree. I get flack for this, for stealing the magic from Christmas. Eh. I can deal with that. I can also deal with the fact that despite the above, this is one of my all time favorite material possessions. I knew I had to buy this Old Saint Nick figurine the minute I saw him. I’ve now had him for about fifteen years and I like seeing him so much that he’s actually out year-round. Unlike the Coca-Cola version of Santa this rendition to me is more of a symbol of the generous spirit people tap into around the holiday season. |
